THE 2016 FRESCOBALDI REMOLE TOSCANA Villa di Remole, in the heart of Tuscany, is the cradle of 700 years of history and tradition for the Frescobaldi family. Remole Toscana is an intense wine, yet it has soft tannins and juicy fruit, which allow it to pair well with a wide variety of cuisine.
This is a blend of 85% Sangiovese and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. After a 10-day maceration on the skins to extract color and flavor, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation that results in a richer mouthfeel. The wine is then matured for 4 months in stainless steel and 2 months in the bottle before being released.
The resulting wine is a deep scarlet-red. The nose has wonderful aromas of blackberry, strawberry, raspberry and cranberry as well as a little baking spice and anise. The soft tannins in this medium-bodied wine lead to a dry, fruity finish.
This wine is perfect with charcuterie and full-flavored first courses. It also pairs well with pizza and pasta dishes.
