Sokol Blosser was founded in 1971 by husband and wife Bill Blosser and Susan Sokol in the Dundee Hills of the Willamette Valley. Today the winery is still a family-owned and run operation. The second-generation of the family who run the business now describe their wine-making philosophy, “We create wines of world-class quality that are produced sustainably, mindful of the environment, that express the distinctive flavors of our hillside vineyards. Sokol Blosser wines reflect who we are—our values and our sense of place.”

The winemakers’ notes on this wine say, “With the touch of our adoration for food-loving wine, our 2018 Evolution Riesling is so zingy and bright that it will wake up your taste buds and brighten your day.

“We crafted a wine that will stand up to spicy curries and stinky cheeses. It’s not your grandma’s Riesling. It’s the wine for the daring wine lover. The wine lover who likes to buck the norm and ignore the stereotypes.

“Like a stealthy wolf in sheep’s clothing, our Riesling is slightly sweet on the outside yet packs a punch. It has a core of acidity that grabs your attention and makes it food’s best friend.”

This wine, made from 100% Riesling from Washington’s Columbia Valley, is a pale straw-colored white that is light-bodied, balanced and barely sweet. It is an “off-dry” white that works with a wide variety of cuisines.
