We invite you to participate in Susan’s first-ever “Virtual Wine Tasting” exploring Spain’s most revered wine region, Rioja, as well as a dip into the region of Rueda.
This event will be hosted by Greg Whisenant, National Sales Manager for Bodegas Ontañón. You will have the opportunity to explore our three featured wines, ask questions in the chat area, and there might even be a few give-aways!! We welcome you to have fun and explore a new, innovative way to learn about the wines we love.
There are two ways to participate. You can simply join into the tasting presentation using the credentials below. You will then learn about these remarkable wines so you can see how they would appeal to you. Or, to promote the tasting, Susan’s is offering these wines at a discount, but normal discounts (wine club, six-or-more-bottles, server, military, etc.) will still apply. Stop by and pick up the bottles in advance. Then, with glass in hand, you can follow Greg and taste with him as he discusses and explains the nuances present in these delightful wines.
2017 Dominio de la Abadesa Verdejo — Rueda
From the famous white-grape growing region of Rueda in Castilla y León. Grown at high elevation and farmed organically and sustainably. This crisp white is fermented with native yeast, raised in stainless steel with weekly lees stirring. Tropical with citrus notes and zesty acidity. Verdejo is Spain’s most widely consumed white grape.
2018 Bodegas Ontañón Tempranillo Blanco — Rioja Oriental
A truly unique variety that was discovered accidentally as a mutation from the Tempranillo red grape. This version is all stainless steel with some lees contact and weekly stirring. Aromas and flavors range from pineapple to white flowers with perfectly balanced acidity.
2018 Bodegas Ontañón “Ecológico” Organic Tempranillo — Rioja Oriental
While the majority of fruit produced at Ontañón is Organic, the Ecológico is a single plot of E.U. certified organic Tempranillo grown at 2500 feet elevation. This is a “joven,” or young wine with just a few months in barrel. Lively, bright red fruit and a crunchy finish.
