Zinfandel is widely regarded as the quintessential American variety. It is a versatile grape, thriving in diverse climates while readily expressing the local terroir and the climate in which it is grown. Also, while the grapes exist in other parts of the world, it took extensive cultivation in the U.S. to lead Zinfandel to its popularity. Consequently, Zins have escaped the sometimes onerous wine-production regulations common in Europe.
At this tasting, we’ll explore iconic styles and regions of California Zinfandel. Highlighting wines from Lodi, Napa, and Russian River Valley, we’ll discuss the wines with a focus on terroir, changing climate, and diverse wine-making styles.
Tyler Rudoff, from National Distributing Company, one of our largest sources for fine wines, will host this tasting, which is free to members of Susan’s Wine Club. Non-members will be asked to pay a nominal tasting fee, which will be applied to any purchase of featured wines during the tasting.
